WORKING IN QUEBEC.

Quebec has its own regulator and its own immigration selection system. French proficiency is essential for licensure and for working in the public system.

PSTQ via Arrima with Recrutement Santé Québec

1. GET LICENSED

  • Apply to OTIMROEPMQ for admission by equivalence. You cannot practise in Quebec without its permit.
  • CAMRT membership on its own does not give you the right to work in Quebec.
  • You will need to pass the Office québécois de la langue française (OQLF) exam to keep your permit long term.

2. IMMIGRATION ROUTE

  • Skilled Worker Selection Program (PSTQ) through the Arrima portal.
  • The Quebec Experience Program (PEQ) was temporarily reopened on July 2, 2026 for two years, with strict eligibility rules.
  • Recrutement Santé Québec can match you with public employers that are authorised to hire internationally. Check what recruitment is currently open.

3. PAY

Median around $35 per hour (range roughly $24.50-39.41+). Unionised pay scales and a defined-benefit pension plan (RREGOP).

4. COST OF LIVING

Montreal rent is lower than Toronto or Vancouver. Subsidised childcare (about $9-10 per day) and low Hydro-Québec electricity rates reduce family costs.

This guide is general information, not immigration or legal advice. Programs, fees and rules change often. Always confirm with the regulator and the official immigration program before you apply, or speak with a licensed immigration consultant (RCIC).
