INTERNATIONALLY EDUCATED TECHNOLOGISTS

YOUR PATH TO IMAGING WORK IN CANADA.

Trained outside Canada as a medical radiation technologist or sonographer? Here is the full path, step by step: getting your credentials recognised, passing the national exam, registering in your province and choosing an immigration route. Human Integrity HR places internationally educated technologists into permanent roles with Canadian imaging facilities.

FIVE STEPS, IN ORDER

  1. 1

    Credential assessment

Apply to the regulator in the province you want to work in, or to CAMRT where there is no provincial college, to have your education and experience compared to Canadian standards. Sonographers apply to Sonography Canada. Note: CAMRT paused new international assessment applications on October 12, 2026 and expects to reopen in early November.

  2. 2

    Language test

Most regulators and immigration programs ask for English or French test results from an approved test such as IELTS General or CELPIP. Each regulator sets its own scores. Quebec requires French.

  3. 3

    National certification exam

Once you are found eligible, write the CAMRT exam for your discipline (radiography, MRI, nuclear medicine or radiation therapy) or the Sonography Canada exams. Some provinces allow a provisional permit while you prepare.

  4. 4

Provincial registration and a job offer

Register with the provincial college, then secure a permanent job offer. Most fast-track immigration streams for health workers require a job offer from a Canadian employer, and this is where we help.

  5. 5

    Immigration and work permit

Apply through the provincial nominee program or federal Express Entry route that fits your province. A provincial nomination adds 600 points to an Express Entry profile.

CHOOSE YOUR PROVINCE OR TERRITORY

COMMON QUESTIONS

Do I need a job offer before I immigrate?

For most health-care fast-track streams, yes. Some Express Entry-linked draws (for example Ontario's Human Capital Priorities stream) can invite you without one, but you still need to be licensed before you can work.

Does Human Integrity HR charge technologists?

No. Our service is always free for technologists. Employers pay our fee.

Can you file my immigration application?

No. We are recruiters, not immigration consultants. We help you get licensed-ready and connect you with employers; for the immigration filing itself, use the official program or a licensed consultant.

Which province is fastest?

It depends on your discipline, language and where you can get an offer. Alberta, Saskatchewan, BC and the Atlantic provinces have dedicated health-care pathways tied to a job offer.
