YNP with a Yukon employer offer
1. GET LICENSED
- Hold CAMRT certification and pass the national exam; provincial licences from elsewhere are not what employers look for.
2. IMMIGRATION ROUTE
- Yukon Nominee Program (YNP) Skilled Worker or Express Entry stream. Your employer submits an Expression of Interest, which is scored, and you need a job offer from a Yukon employer such as Whitehorse General Hospital.
- Employers are not obliged to nominate, and no one may charge you a fee for a nomination.
3. PAY
Pay is above most provinces, plus the federal Northern Residents Deduction, a Yukon travel bonus after two years, and frequent signing bonuses.
4. COST OF LIVING
Whitehorse rent is high and vacancy near zero; groceries cost 20-30% more than the south. No PST, only 5% GST.
